Comparative review: Nexen N Fera Sport versus Toyo Proxes T1 Sport

Today, we have a battle of summer tyres on our hands. A face-off between the Nexen N Fera Sport, which hails from the Czech Republic, and the Japanese Toyo Proxes T1 Sport. While both of these tyres have their respective strengths, what we really want to know is how they compare in performance according to various tests. So, let's dive in.

About the tyres

The Nexen N Fera Sport is a summer tyre developed as the original equipment for the BMW 2-series Active Tourer. It has consistently been favored in reviews, with an overall rating of 76%. This Nexen model was particularly appreciated for being quiet on exterior noise during the road tests, delivering a certain level of comfort with an ultra-high performance (UHP) subtype.

On the flip side, the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport is a summer tyre with a strong focus on dry steering response, made in Japan. Scoring only a 42% rating on our website, the Toyo tyre struggled in comparison to the Nexen model.

Comparing the tests

In a test conducted by AutoMotorSport with 11 total tyres, the Nexen N Fera Sport claimed the 9th position, while the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport was in the 10th place. Here, the Nexen model shone in exterior noise and comfort, while the Toyo model impressed with its dry steering response.

In a larger test conducted by Autobild, featuring 50 tyres, the Nexen and Toyo models ranked 7th and 16th respectively. Here the Nexen model showcased its excellent handling in both wet braking and aquaplaning while the Toyo model got double mentions for exterior noise.

In a test organized by ADAC, the Nexen N Fera Sport landed the 5th spot, liked for its mileage, while the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport took a lower place at 13.

Our verdict

According to these test results, it's clear that the Nexen N Fera Sport performs better overall. It scores higher in our own ratings, and regularly places above the Toyo model in testing, showing particular strength in wet conditions while also providing good exterior noise levels and comfort. However, the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport still shines with its dry steering response - if that factor is more important to you, it could be worth considering.

In the end, your choice between these two tyres will depend on your driving conditions and needs. But if you're looking for a solid performer that excels in various areas, our nod goes to the Nexen N Fera Sport.
