In our tyre comparison, we look at two popular summer tyre models, the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 and the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport.

Maxxis Victra Sport 5

Made by Maxxis, a well-known manufacturer based in China, the Victra Sport 5 is a high-performance ultra-high performance (UHP) summer tyre boasting a 74% rating from our team. In the testing, it has performed well overall, especially in scenarios prone to aquaplaning and noise. In the AutoMotorSport test, its position was 5 out of 11 tyres, whereas in the Autobild test, it was positioned further back in the pack at 20 out of a total of 50 tyres, and finally in the ADAC test, it took the 4th place out of 16 tyres. Its identified strengths include its cross aquaplaning, mileage performance, noise level and wet circle cornering features. The Victra Sport 5 has not yet been replaced by a newer model.

Toyo Proxes T1 Sport

On the other hand, the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport, manufactured in Japan by \Toyo garnered a rating of 42%. This tyre's performance in testing had mixed results. In the AutoMotorSport test, it was positioned near the bottom, 10 out of 11 tyres. However, it made significant strides in the Autobild test with a placing at 16 out of 50 tyres. Its performance in the ADAC test was more middle ground, coming in at 13 out of 16 tyres. The best features highlighted for this tyre were its dry steering response and exterior noise level, with Autobild test noting exterior noise as a standout feature twice. Like the Victra Sport 5, the Toyo Proxes T1 Sport also has not been replaced yet by a newer model.

Verdict

Both tyres have their strengths, but based on the test data above, the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 generally ranks higher in tests and has a higher overall rating. It excels in areas related to aquaplaning, noise, and cornering. The Toyo Proxes T1 Sport on the other hand may be your tyre of choice if dry steering response and exterior noise are high priorities. In summary, while the right tyre for you may depend on your specific use case and preferences, aggregate data places the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 as a better performer overall.
