Summer tyres 2015 - Overview

Updated 29. 3. 2015, Jiri Chomat

Summer tyres for 2014/15 Every year we provide you with best tyre tests to help you choose the right tyres - and according to Continental , 85% of consumers choose by independent tests. With the amount of tests, however, the results can be a little confusing, each test is focusing on something little different, and so the results may vary. Therefore, if you do not have the time or you maybe do not want to study all of the tests. That's why I have prepared an overview of the best what you can buy this year.Sometimes my recommendations may differ from the absolute rankings in tests. This is due to the fact that, rather than the individual tests, I'm trying to take into account the overall quality of the tyre in all sizes. Therefore, if the results of one of the model vary significantly across sizes I rather choose one with more stable results. The table is very simple and self-explanatory -it shows the number of tests in which the tyre was tested, its best position, the worst position and the average position. PBecause offered models vary based on sizes, we seperated them into tables:

The best driving properties

Tyres with the best safety and overall best and most balanced properties at slightly higher cost

Dunlop Sport BluResponse

The shortest braking distance, great riding properties

Dunlop - Tyre test 2015

Dunlop Sport BluResponse is the tyre that has the uncompromising driving characteristics on dry and wet conditions. It won 2 of the 3 tests, and even in the ADAC, where ended up in third place, it beated all its competitors in the driving characteristics. ADAC puts great emphasis on eco efficiency, while this tyre puts emphasis mainly on the driving characteristics. And it's wear isn't bad either according to the review.

Advantages:Disadvantages:
+ Absolutely the best ranking in tests - Higher price
+ Very short braking distance
+ Great driving properties under all conditions
Buy Dunlop Sport BluResponse »

Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance

Very good driving properties in wet conditions, resistant against aquaplaning

GoodYear - Tyre test 2015

Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance is a tyre produced in very wide range of sizes, and therefore was also tested many times. It is available from R14 to R18 and even if the results in the tests vary depending on size, the tests and driver's reviews point to its very high quality on wet roads. Its balanced position in our tests is not random and GoodYear on this generation really did a good job.

Advantages:Disadvantages:
+ Regularly recommended in tests - Higher noise levels
+ Excellent on wet - Higher price
+ resistant against aquaplaning

Amongst these tyres is also appropriate to include Uniroyal Rainsport 3, last year's new tyre at a reasonable price with unbeatable characteristics in wet conditions, but for clarity I present it in news.

Performance tyres at a reasonable price

tyres with the best possible performance at a lower price than premium tyres

Fulda EcoControl HP

German high-quality energy-saving tyre for affordable price

Fulda - Tyre test 2015

Quality tyre from less well-known German brand Fulda boldly competes with the above and, in certain areas supasses the Nokian. Is it better on wet conditions and in aquaplaning, but Nokian is better on the dry. The name Ecocontrol suggests lower wear and tests just confirm it -there are not quite as good as the Michelin Energy Saver +.

Advantages:Disadvantages:
+ Regularly recommended in tests - Worse properties on dry roads (driving stability)
+ resistant against aquaplaning
+ Favourable price and Slow wear
Buy Fulda EcoControl HP »

Nokian Line

Nokian Line - Tyre test 2015

Finnish quality for a good price

Winter tyres Nokian they are very popular, despite the Nordic climate the Finns are able to create a good summer tyre. This is the Nokian Line, manufactured in sizes R14 up to R17. So this is my recommendation for the driver seeking a safe tyre at an affordable price.

Advantages:Disadvantages:
+ Regularly recommended in tests - Average resistance to aquaplaning
+ Favourable price - Higher noise levels
+ Balanced driving characteristics on dry and wet conditions
Buy Nokian Line »

Energy-saving tyres

tyres with good driving properties, which also saves costs

In the category of saving tyres can be classified and the above mentioned Fulda Ecocontrol HP, that is not as efficient as Energy Saver +, but has a significantly lower cost.

Michelin Energy Saver +

A premium tyre with the highest mileage

Michelin - Tyre test 2013

Driving characteristics are little worse than other premium tyres, however, but it's weighted by it's prolonged durability. Mileage of this tyre in comparison with the competition is really high and low rolling resistance tyres ensures a lower fuel consumption.

Advantages:Disadvantages:
+ Regularly WINS in tests when it comes to mileage - Worse properties on wet roads (in particular handling)
+ low rolling resistance and fuel consumption - High price

Cheap summer tyres

Safe tyres recommended mainly because its price

Barum Bravuris 3 HM

But last year's new Bravuris 3 HM turned out to be very good and its price is by far the cheapest recommended tyre by tests. In addition, really excels in stamina and rolling element of resistance, and that makes her an ideal candidate for the casual driver looking in the first place on the cost savings. If you are looking for the cheapest tyres in sizes up to R20, this should be your choice.

+ Long mileage and low rolling resistance

News for this year 2015

Tyres, which haven't been tested, but their quality is assumed to be really good

Uniroyal Rainsport 3

Unbeatable tyre on wet conditions for a good price

Uniroyal - Tyre test 2015

Uniroyal Rainsport 3 is last year's news (this year Uniroyal Rainexpert 3 also introduced the tyres what is worth mentioning), in the tests, however, was tested only once (and once again in her The SUV version of the), Even so, but to me and to other drivers made an impression. Specialization on the ride on wet roads is certainly for the summer tyre the importance and AutoMotorSport appreciate her for that second place. Moreover, even on a dry lot nestrácí for more expensive ContiPremiumContact 5. That makes her the ideal candidate to the powerful summer tyre.

Advantages:Disadvantages:
+ Specialist on driving on the wet - Tested only once
+ Excellent price/performance ratio - Minor flaws on dry roads

How to choose summer tyres?

According to the survey tyre manufacturer Continental made, 84% of drivers choose tyres based on independent tests. I think that the choice of the tyres according to the tests is perhaps the most objective way to choose the tyres.Certainly, the test criteria is the tyres over the winter less, but even so you can significantly help in the selection. Each test has, however, otherwise the criteria you set, so you may not be the best test winner, but rather to be a tyre, under test at least wears out.
